Experiencing Commercial Videos for Online Shopping

In recent years online shopping has become a popular and convenient instrument for companies to buy and sell products. However, the design of these web-shops does not offer the rich multisensory experiences than physical retailing offers. In the paper we argue that audio-visual contents could provide dynamic multisensory information to offer more engaging experiences to the consumer, but to achieve this goal, audio-visual contents need to be adjusted to the cultural characteristics of the users. Reading to Learn From Online Information: Modeling the Factor Structure

Identifying the factor structure of online reading to learn is important for the development of theory, assessment, and instruction. Traditional comprehension models have been developed from, and for, offline reading. This study used online reading to determine an optimal factor structure for modeling online research and comprehension among 426 sixth graders (ages 12 and 13). Confirmatory factor analysis was employed to evaluate an assessment of online research and comprehension based on a widely referenced theoretical model. Letter-speech sound (LSS) integration is crucial for initial stages of reading acquisition. However, the relationship between cortical organization for supporting LSS integration, including unimodal and multimodal processes, and reading skills in early readers remains unclear. In the present study, we measured brain responses to Finnish letters and speech sounds from 29 typically developing Finnish children in a child-friendly audiovisual integration experiment using magnetoencephalography. Tämän tutkielman tarkoituksena on selvittää millaisia käännösratkaisuja kääntäjät ovat käyttäneet kulttuuristen viittausten ja sanaleikkien kääntämiseen audiovisuaalisessa aineistossa, joka asettaa kääntämiselle monia haasteita. Tutkimusaineistona on amerikkalainen tv-sarja Gilmoren tytöt (Gilmore Girls), josta tarkastellaan kulttuuriviittauksia seitsemästä jaksosta ja sanaleikkejä 14 jaksosta. Tutkimuksessa otetaan huomioon sekä ruotsin- että suomenkieliset tekstitykset, jotta saadaan variaatiota mahdollisiin käännösstrategioihin ja voidaan vertailla eroavatko erikieliset tekstitykset käännösmetodien osalta.
